Sam élite

The Sam élite was a re-packaged Sam Coupé with the addition of:

1. 512kB Memory Expansion as standard
2. A Floppy drive (with Drive 1 in the right hand bay instead of the left, via modification to the Internal PCB)
3. A parallel printer interface SIPI in the left hand bay via modification to the Internal PCB
4. Modified ROM version 3.0 (called 3.5)
5. Black feet instead of blue
6. Un-sprayed External PSU in Amstrad grey with 'SAM POWER SUPPLY' sticker.
7. Sticker covering the MGT and SAM Coupé logos.

The Sam Drive slim-line floppy drives from Citizen had been withdrawn them from the European market in 1990 and were replaced with standard 3.5 inch drives which required some modification to the front drive plates for the rectangular bezels to poke out the front.

If two drives were installed this had to be done as a factory modification, the SIPI was mounted vertically in the left hand bay and the extra floppy drive controller 'stacked' on top of the one in the right hand bay with a ribbon cable running to the drive in the left hand bay.
