There was a man (Montague John Druitt) who worked local to where I live who suffered from mental illness and ended up taking his own life in Dec 1888. After a rather sad end to his own existence, he was named as one of the prime suspects in the Jack The Ripper murders.
It just seemed like after such a tragic end, he wasn’t even allowed to rest in peace and I always felt really sorry for him (he wasn’t JtR btw). So MJD productions nonsense was just a little nod to him
